Press release -
ETP Transmission awarded ISO 14001 certification
As a part of their continuous development within the environmental field, ETP Transmission recently was certified in accordance with ISO 14001. The sanction confirms ETP:s commitment to environmental management.
– It’s a great accomplishment that validates that we are on the right track with our sustainability focus, says Niclas Rosberg, CEO of ETP Transmission.
Hard work pays off, at least for ETP Transmission who recently was awarded the ISO 14001 certification due to the company’s dedication to sustainable development and environmental standards. Sustainability is not a new topic for ETP who specializes in hydraulic clamping and centering products. The entire tool assortment is made from steel which is long-lasting and recyclable - both crucial factors that ETP considered during the development. ETP has also analyzed the life cycle of all of their products intending to achieve the lowest impact possible on the environment.
– We’ve had an environmental focus since the beginning, now it’s all about improving and looking into what else we can do. The ISO 14001 certification is an essential milestone in our environmental work, but it’s an ongoing process. We want to become even better, more efficient, and constantly decrease our carbon dioxide footprint, says Niclas Rosberg.
A universal certification
The globally accepted certification is designed to encourage and help organizations implement an EMS (Environmental Management System) to manage, identify, control, and monitor potential environmental issues. When a company applies for the certification an external consultant assesses the process in two steps.
– The first step involves presenting relevant documents which display the structure of the management of the business. Then, the second step is a physical examination on-site where we look into how it works in the business, from waste disposal to purchases. There are lots of requirements that must be followed and the company has to maintain a level that complies with these requirements, which ETP Transmission has proved, says Henrik Thorén, consultant at Qvalify who issues ISO 14001 certifications.
The journey to a greener future
As of now, ETP is analyzing ways to advance its environmental work. The company has already made several initiatives, for instance, charging points, district cooling, hybrid and electric car policy, and frequency controlled ventilation. ETP is also in the process of establishing a sustainability group to engage the staff as well as to detect approaches to decrease the company's carbon dioxide footprint. Currently, ETP is tracking the carbon dioxide print per hour which is an important step for their long-term goal - becoming carbon dioxide neutral.
– We have set up several ambitious goals for the future and agreed to constantly work to reach them. Sustainability has never been as important as it is right now and at ETP we certainly want to contribute to a more sustainable society, which the ISO certification is a validation of, Niclas Rosberg concludes.
